Why do some people will refer a high school term paper to be a junior research paper? Actually, it is not really important whether you are going to write a research paper for a middle school education, undergraduate level or PhD level. All of the dissertation types in these segments have the same instructions and chapters required. The research paper format is more important than the name itself so you need not worry about writing a junior research paper in the first place.

A junior research paper will always involve the same chapter requirements as with any other thesis type. This means that you need to integrate title page, introduction, literature review, methods, data and analysis, results and conclusion in any of your research paper projects. So if you are required to write a junior research paper, don’t bother to know why.

Another aspect of writing a general research paper is the citation scheme. An APA style research paper or an MLA format thesis should be used if you are going to write a research paper of any form. These formats will help you highlight your capacity to reference other documents which will give you credibility.

Lastly, a junior research paper can tackle any topics that the writer wishes to talk about. You are not restricted only to use low class subjects. If you can handle a topic even if it is about quantum physics, then go for it. The term “Junior” has nothing to do with the topic you are allowed to tackle.

What You Can Learn by Writing Junior Research Papers

If you are a college student then you can count on writing quite a few research papers. However, in some colleges and universities, these assignments are special, so you might also find yourself having to write a junior research paper. As the name suggests, this is a requirement for students in their third, or junior, year at college. Quite often, it is a requirement the student must pass in order to attain his or her degree, whether it is in biology, literature, or criminal justice. It is especially popular in majors designated as the humanities or social sciences, so a student majoring in anthropology, sociology, history, and a number of other majors, will likely find him or herself faced with this assignment.

Not every college and university will require third year students to write a junior research paper.  That being said, however, you never know when a professor will require this kind of paper; it might be needed to pass the class for the semester, or even to get your degree.  For that reason, you clearly need to take this assignment seriously.  Actually, you need to take it seriously anyway, if only because it is designed to show the professor exactly how much you have learned in the course.

A junior research paper is typically analytical in some way.  As such, many students choose to make theirs a critical analysis research paper, which is certainly an excellent choice.  This type of an essay allows you to do much more than simply research your topic.  You also have the opportunity to delve deep into your subject matter and analyze what you find.  Including the analysis in your paper can definitely take it to the next level.  In addition to allowing you to write an interesting and thought provoking paper, this will also show your professor that you not only paid attention to the class, but also have a vested interest in the subject matter, whether it is historical, anthropological, sociological, or psychological.

These types of papers, in fact, generally take the form of analysis research papers.  After all, anyone can research a topic.  Most of us have been doing that since we were in high school, if not middle school.  Our teachers their groom us for the kind of research which will be necessary during our years in a university.  So, researching should be second nature by the time you hit your junior year of college.  Therefore, a deeper analysis of the topic is necessary — especially when it is in your major!  If you plan to do anything with your degree, then you need to be an expert in your field of study, even at the undergraduate level.  As such, you should also consider good research paper topics.  Picking a boring topic or, worse, one which is easy to write about is going to suggest to your professor that you did not learn a thing.

Writing a junior research paper may sound difficult and time consuming, but if you take it one step at a time then you will be fine.  It is clearly more important than some of the other research papers you may write during your college career, but you cannot let that intimidate you.  Probably the best piece of advice is to start out with a well written research paper outline which includes all of the appropriate places for analysis.
