Persuasive Research Papers

It is quite obvious that writing a persuasive research paper involves a tremendous effort to write a research paper that can actually influence the readers. The one aspect that we would like to talk about in writing such a research document is the way on how you can increase the “persuasive power” of your work.

Good Topic

One way to attract your readers to read your persuasive research paper is by having a research paper topic that is interesting and relevant. This will initially capture the attention of the students to entice them to browse through the pages of your project.

Thesis Statement

A strong thesis statement is required. You need to have a sense of assertion with your thesis statement that will generally involve an initial persuasion factor to gather more attention fro your readers.

Evidences

A persuasive research paper will eventually need to have an argument. This research paper outline involves the presentation of proofs and evidences that will increase your credibility to change how the readers perceive a subject. With good evidences, you are sure to capture the minds of the audiences and help them realize that what you are trying to say is valid.

Layout and Format

Having a good format in writing your persuasive research paper can clearly help your readers appreciate the good “design” of your project in visual perspectives. If you were able to partition the research paper into segments that are neat and presentable, then they will be able to keep on reading your document up to the end.

How to Find the Perfect High School Research Paper Idea

Once you hit grades nine through twelve, you can count on writing a lot of research papers – meaning, of course, that you will have to come up with a lot of high school research paper ideas.  For some of you, namely those with a serious writing bent, this will come easily.  For others, it may be more difficult.  The most common problems among high school students involves choosing topics which are either too broad or too narrow.

Sometimes your teachers will help you along, providing a ton of their own high school research paper ideas, revolving around whatever class they are teaching.  For instance, possible topics for English research papers might include, depending on the class and grade level, various works of Charles Dickens, a definite high school favorite; at least one Shakespearian history, comedy, and/or tragedy (generally Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, and who knows which of his comedies); and any number of other books, depending on your teacher’s lesson plan for the particular class.

In a twelfth grade AP English class, you will have more freedom with your senior research paper.  You will usually have to write two, and at least one of them will be on a topic of your choice, keeping in mind your teacher’s approval.  You might choose to write a persuasive research paper, or an argumentative one; it might even be an expository.  Your humble author wrote one of hers on Tourette’s Syndrome and another on the Romantic poet, Lord Byron.  So you see, the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination or your interests.

It must be said that most high school research paper ideas will at least be relegated to an English class, if not necessarily revolving around some form of literature.  Other classes in high school rarely assign research papers, but trust that this will change when you get to college.  English classes, literature classes, science classes, sociology classes, anthropology classes – you are apt to get such an assignment in any of them.

That is why your teachers require you to come up with so many high school research paper ideas, on such a wide variety of subjects.  The difficulty of these papers starts out fairly low.  As a freshman, you will likely start to see a lot of personal experience research papers.  Your teachers are trying to get you comfortable with writing; the subject matter is less important than honing your skills as a writer.  The fact of the matter is, a lot of students feel comfortable writing about their personal experiences.  As you continue on into tenth grade, especially if you are in an advanced class, you will likely get to choose you own topic – but based upon a single work and subject to the teacher’s approval.  Here, your instructors are trying to teach you to choose good topics.  They will not turn down a possible subject because it is necessarily bad, but rather because you may not, as a sophomore, have the time or the resources to try your hand at it.  You get even more freedom as a junior and, finally, as a senior, you get a taste of what writing will be like in college.

Composing a Cloning Research Paper

Believe it or not – and it may be hard to do so – writing a cloning research paper can be extremely interest.  It is probably very difficult to believe that writing anything for school, be it for high school or college, can be fun, but in this case you have a marvelous opportunity.  So, let’s talk about how exactly you can make this such a fun process – and where you can get some substantial research paper help.

No matter what subject you choose to write about within this context, a cloning research paper has an abundance of controversial research paper topics surrounding it.  Now, sometimes controversial papers are not the best for the kind of writing you do in high school – it really depends on what your teacher has to say – but in college, controversy is king.  You will have the opportunity to really debate with your classmates, not to mention your professors.  As well, you will no doubt find that the subject is far more interesting than you ever imagined it could be, if only because it is so new and innovative.

We all know about Dolly the sheep, right?  Even if you do not know about her specifically, pretty much all of us have at least heard about her.  Back when news of a cloned sheep first came out, the reactions were very stringent and very enthusiastic.  Were they varied?  Not quite: by and large, people either thought that it was a fantastic advance in science and medicine, or that the doctors and scientists in charge were down right playing God and screwing with the natural order of things.  Those same opinions still hold quite true: in the matter of cloning, most folks are either extremely for it or totally against it, and either way, they are not at all shy about sharing their opinions.  That right there could make a great cloning research paper.  You could set up in the style of argumentative research papers, where you argue each point.  Dolly is a good place to start with your research, but in this day and age, there are lots of other examples at your disposal as well.

Perhaps you yourself are for cloning; perhaps you think that it is absolutely and unquestionably wrong.    Persuasive research papers were practically designed for topics such as this.  You could compose an entire paper describing and defending your position.  This is perfectly acceptable, as long as you have plenty of good sources.  Remember, however, they have to be reputable and credible; they cannot be full of propaganda with no support to back up the argument.  In that case, you are basically just writing pages and pages filled with preaching rather than well thought out research.  Persuasive research papers are designed to support an argument, they are not designed to try to force your readers into agreeing with your stance.

There are a number of good research paper topics associated with a cloning research paper.  For biology courses, general science courses, or more advanced courses, such as genetics and evolution, cloning is an excellent topic.  The best part is that cloning itself is rather broad, leaving you plenty of sub topics from which to choose.  When you commit to the research and try as hard as possible to find credible, informative sources, then the controversy of the subject combined with impeccable research and writing is bound to get you the best possible grade.  More importantly, you will wind up with a paper that really grabs your readers by the throat and captures their interest until the very last page.

Persuasive essay prompts are actually devices which can help you in almost every facet of literature and writing.  Naturally, they can help you to craft better essays and research papers, as well as term papers, theses, research proposals, and dissertations.  They can also help you create solid yet interesting topics for your research papers et. al.  There is no disputing those facts.  However, they can also help in your personal writing.  After all, in writing a poem, a short story, a book, you do have to persuade your readers to go along with the tale, do you not?  Besides, personal writing does not always mean fiction; some of us may go on to write articles and essays in professional journals, to write anthologies, text books, examples of papers, et cetera.

Does it seem silly to think that persuasive essay prompts, those tools we are generally given in middle school and high school, to which we usually wave good bye as we move on to college?  Not at all!  We can never consider such writing aids silly.  They were invaluable in your early academic years and they are invaluable now, even if you are no longer in school.  Actually, using a prompt even when you have a case of writer’s block can help kick start your imagination, wake up your muse.  Besides, we know well that they help in later academic writing – just think about persuasive research papers!  Persuasive prompts are quite helpful in that area.  Being able to persuade your readers to see things from your point of view, to see the value of your research, et cetera, can ultimately be beneficial for both your grade point average and your future.

At its heart, research paper writing is no more difficult than the smaller essays and papers you write in middle school and high school – even grade school, when three pages seemed like a lot.  It is simply more detailed, it involves more work.  Still, by the same token, even the persuasive prompts you had as a younger student can, even now, be shifted and crafted into interesting research paper topics.  To demonstrate, take a look at the following sample persuasive essay prompts.

Sample 1: Your English teacher often plays classical music softly in the background while your class has free work time.  The music is not particularly popular with you and your classmates.  You would prefer to hear a different type of music.  Write a letter to your English teacher, persuading him or her to play that music when the class has independent time.

That could actual translate into persuasive research papers which look into the idea that playing classical music, especially Mozart, for a child will make it more intelligent – with the writers persuading the readers whether or not that is actually true.

Sample 2: Your family has just moved to the United States from Brazil, and you are the only person in the family who knows how to speak English.  Your parents do not feel the need to learn the language.  Write a letter to them describing the benefits of learning English.

Persuasive essay prompts like this could lead to a discussion on the small controversy surrounding the prevalence of the Spanish language within the United States at all.  Many people think other languages, on signs, in school, et cetera, are a matter of course, polite, respectful, and necessary.  Others … well, they do not.  The point is, you can easily see how prompts can translate into interesting research paper topics.  Likewise, they will be tremendously beneficial as you continue on through school, up to college and graduate school, where research paper writing will be a huge part of the curriculum.

A student entering into the sixth grade is experiencing a whole new world, which is just one of the reasons being familiar with middle school essay topics is beneficial.  Students get a taste of writing in elementary school but the middle school years are when they really begin getting prepped for college, even as they are being prepared for the more intensive writing experienced in high school.

If you are a middle school student, or if you are the parent or guardian of one, looking for some help, thinking about possible prompts can really help you.  Among other things, this article is going to include some examples of middle school essay topics.  They will give you an idea of what to expect, especially as it applies to research papers and the other writing assignments coming your way.

Your teachers start grooming you to know how to craft good research paper topics as early as the sixth grade.  Narrative essays are popular at that level.  A narrative essay quite simply allows you to be the narrator.  You are describing the experience, you are guiding the essay.  Narrative essays that require you to take the reader from point A to point B are very useful.  For example, you might be given a prompt such as “Pacific Ocean,” wherein you are told to write a story that begins with you sitting at home and ends with you out in the ocean.  It is up to you to decide how you happened to get there and what you are doing out in the sea.  These are both ideal for preparing you for later assignments, especially personal experienceresearch papers .

Other middle school essay topics include compare and contrast exercises.  For instance, you may be asked to describe the differences between reading a book and seeing the movie on which it is based, text messaging versus talking, or writing a letter and sending an email.

Topics that require description in the essay are also popular.  Your teacher might ask you to picture a very cold day, to imagine that you are cold.  You can go on to describe how you intend to get warm and how you ultimately go about doing so.  Vibrant details and descriptions are required for these.  In turn, they can prepare you for devising very interesting research paper topics in later grades.

Essays which revolve around a process are also an excellent base for later writing research papers.  In this case, your teacher might has you to write and illustrate some kind of guide or instruction manual, such as describing to younger students the correct way to line up in the class room or something similar.

Persuasive middle school essay topics also prepare you for later assignments – namely persuasive research papers.  In a persuasive essay, you might be asked to talk your parents into letting you have a pet.  You will, of course, have to exhibit why and how you are responsible, what you will do to take care of the pet, et cetera.  You might also be asked to pretend that you are trying to get a job, and to write a letter to your prospective employer.  Again, the essay will be up to how well you present your argument – a perfect talent to have for research papers!
