Now, you have to face the fact that you will be writing your first research paper. Before you get excited about it, you need to first write a research paper proposal. Have you heard of it before? This is the initial plan that you wish to execute for the research and writing process. The proposal should first be approved by your adviser before you can continue with your research methods. Let me give you some insights and bits of information about writing a research paper proposal.

  1. Research title – this should be something about the true goal of researching. Make a title that is interesting and attractive.
  2. Thesis statement – the main goal of writing a paper is formed in a thesis statement. Make a strong one that asserts a notion to be valid and true.
  3. Introduction – this chapter explains the main reason why you have selected the topic. It should also relate to why the thesis statement was presented as it is. Try to do some research paper search first to learn writing the introduction.
  4. Methodology – this is the proposal’s explanation on how you will conduct your research. Explain the methods of data gathering as well as the analysis of data.
  5. Discussion and Results – obviously you still do not have any research results. Simply provide your “guess” conclusion for the paper. Assume things that can be regarded as your hypothesis.

The research paper proposal is as important as the thesis paper itself. This is where it will all begin. Have a proposal handy and make sure your teacher approves it.

Research Paper Proposal

There is much confusion over what a research paper proposal is and its difference from a research paper. Actually, you only need to remember a single word to identify which is which. A research “proposal” is like a plan or an outline that you wish to undertake to come up with a research paper. So a “proposal” is like your proposed idea before conducting a procedure.

Why is it important to first have a research paper proposal before writing the research paper? In your high school and college education, you are guided by an adviser as to whether your plan of researching is feasible. Feasibility means you can actually do the research with a given skill and available materials. Now, a research paper proposal is like a material that you want your adviser to approve so you can proceed with the research process.

There are only a few parts required in a research paper proposal. You can start by integrating an interesting research topic. This process will take a little more time to do because you want to make sure that you can do research about the subject and that you are interested in it. Second, compose a strong thesis statement in the proposal. It should be an idea that provides great discussions of things. Third, provide some details about the methods that you want to undertake for the research procedure. You may mention data gathering and data analysis formulas. Lastly, make up a good assumption or guess as to what you are expecting to obtain after the research.

The Benefits of Research Paper Sample Outlines

Writing a research paper is a meticulous and involved process; it can greatly be helped by writing an outline, which can, in turn, be benefited by checking out a research paper sample outline.  That way you can see what is expected of you, especially if you are unfamiliar with writing outlines.  Generally, especially in high school and during your first years at a college or university, your teachers and professors will actually require you to turn in your outline, either before you turn in your paper or along with your final draft.

A research paper sample outline will show you a number of things.  The good thing about an outline is that, for the most part, it does not matter what kind of research paper format you have to choose.  APA, MLA, Chicago style: the only difference might be the use of Roman numerals versus letters and things of that nature.  You might, in some cases, be asked to permit the first draft of an outline when submitting a research paper proposal; again, your teacher or professor might ask you to submit an outline before your final draft; some instructors simply want you to include your outline with the final draft of your research paper.

In addition to knowing how to cite research papers, knowing how to write outlines is extremely crucial.  There are many differences between the outlines written in high school and the ones your professors will expect.  On a superficial level, they are the same; however, at the college level, your professors will expect you to be much more detailed and precise.

All that being said, let’s take a look at a research paper sample outline.  This one is rather generic and is based on how running can make you healthier.  Yes, yes, not the most interesting research paper, but the format seen in this sample will work well for any topic.

I. Introduction
A. This is your thesis statement; generally, it should be a single, concise, and declarative sentence.  At most, it should be no more than two.  For a paper based on the benefits of running, it could be something as simple as, “Running is a great way to stay healthy because it improves circulation, physical health, and strength, as well as developing muscles and controlling weight.”

II. Body
A. Cardiovascular health
1. Strengthens heart
2. Improves blood pressure
3. Improves circulation

B. Weight control
1. Improves self control
2. Burns calories
3. Incentive for healthy eating habits
4. Appetite suppressant

C. Developing muscles
1. Improves muscle tone
2. Improves the body’s contours
3. Develops strength
4. Better endurance

D. Overall well being
1. Better sleep
2. Reduces depression
3. Improves vitality

III. Conclusion
A. Reiteration of thesis statement, tied into the body of the paper.

As you cans see, a research paper sample outline is going to help you quite a lot.  It is going to, among other things, tell you exactly the kind of information you need to write good essays and research papers.

The Key to Writing a Chemistry Research Paper

Clues for Chemistry Research Papers

Okay everyone, your humble writer has to be honest about something regarding a certain kind of research papers.  She is going to do her very best to tell you everything you need to know about writing a chemistry research paper, but you should forgive any lackluster attitude, as she also failed organic chemistry miserably back in high school.  That is what literature lovers do: they fail out of chemistry.  Bearing that in mind, however, chemistry is an intriguing subject for those with a scientific bent.  A lot of people greatly prefer biology classes, since they generally involve cutting things open, but keep in mind that chemistry class can involve playing with acid and making things blow up, which is just about all you need to write an interesting paper.

From personal experience, the first thing you need to consider when writing a chemistry research paper is your professor.  Did you get one of the good ones, or did you get the prerequisite professor whom everyone loathes, detests, and prays not to get?  If so, then go talk to one of the well liked ones, it will help you out a lot.  Barring that, ingratiate yourself to the smartest person in the class.

There are – probably – a lot of interesting research papers you can write which involve chemistry.  After all, it is itself an interesting facet of science.  You simply have to be really go at it because or have a vested interest because otherwise, even studying your bum off will not help very much.

For that reason, you have to be extremely careful when considering research paper ideas for a chemistry research paper.  What are you studying in the class at the time? What have you studied up to that point?  In chemistry courses, it is generally better to stick with what you know, unless you are extremely gifted in the course.  Otherwise, you are apt to find yourself boggled down; you may find yourself doing tons of research, but unable to understand a bit of what you have found.  For that reason, too, you may find it beneficial to turn in a research paper proposal before you even start on the paper in earnest.  That way, your professor will be able to tell you if you are on the right track, if your subject is a feasible one, and if you have enough time to successfully complete it.

If you are taking a general chemistry course as a freshman or sophomore in college, then writing a chemistry research paper might be quite a bit easier.  If you are taking an inorganic or organic chemistry course because you are majoring in straight chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or because you are pre-med, then make sure you get as much help as possible.  Research paper writing is an involved process no matter what the subject.  When you consider all the theorems, postulates, equations, formulas, et cetera, involved in higher level chemistry classes, you realize there is a lot of room to mess up, so do everything you can to make sure you do not go that route.

Writing a Research Paper Proposal

Once you reach a certain point in your undergraduate studies, you can pretty much count on having to submit a research paper proposal for all the papers you write.  Your humble author will be perfectly honest with you – it is a tedious and seemingly pointless process.  It generally seems completely unnecessary at the time and it is only in retrospect that you will usually understand the importance of the proposal.  Hindsight may be twenty/twenty and all of that, but four years after graduating, this particular author still finds the whole process tedious.  But if you do not find yourselves with a very new, very inexperienced, but very pompous sociology/anthropology professor who does not know what she is doing, you guys should be fine!

Simply put, a research paper proposal is where you present the idea, issue, or research you want to pursue in your writing.  Furthermore, it will show your professor that you have actually taken the time to think about both the research paper writing process and the research process itself.  It will also show that you have already taken the time to gather some materials and sources.  It will also give you a chance to see which of the many research paper styles your professor wants you to use, and to make sure you understand the appropriate style before you actually write your paper.  This is more important than you may think because some of those inexperienced professors will give you a research paper example to follow but then pronounce it incorrect when you turn in your proposal.  If this happens to you, milk it for all you are worth!

So, clearly, you need to know how to cite research paper proposals as well.  Generally, you will do this in APA format, because most research based papers follow that format.  Following a research paper template can help you see what you are supposed to do.  To that end, let’s discuss the outline your research paper proposal should follow.  For starters, you need to state the question you intend to answer with your research.  You have to explain something, that is the whole point of research papers.  After that comes a brief literature review, wherein you will review any major and important works which are relevant to your research paper topic; furthermore, they need to be indicative of the topic in some way.  Third comes another statement explaining what your argument actually is, as well as a statement explaining how your argument will be different and innovative.  You see, the literature you use in your review should be relevant; however, you need to discuss something which has not already been proven or discussed to death.  Next comes an outline of your paper itself – introduction, body, conclusion, bibliography, et cetera.  Next comes the bibliography for the proposal. Learn where you can get sample papers.

By and large, a research paper proposal does not have to be long at all.  Generally, they are no longer than three or four pages.  However, the quality of the content needs to be high.  You need to explain yourself very well.  Again, a research paper template on a proposal can also come in handy here.
