There are certain procedures and steps that you should know in research paper writing. These steps are much easier to execute if you understand them. In this article, let me guide you about these research paper procedures to make your life easier.

The first step in research paper writing is the creation of a topic interest. This topic should be based on the writers’ knowledge and personal interest. However, it is also important that you choose a subject that is significant to the readers, feasible and overall worthy of the readers’ time.

The next procedure is the creation of a research paper proposal. The proposal is simply a plan. It is a plan that you want to execute to conduct researching. But since it is a proposal, you must first seek the approval of your teacher or thesis adviser. Only this time you will be able to start writing the actual research paper.

Conducting the research itself is the next step. Make sure that you have created an experimental design before diving in to the research process. A design can be about how to gather data and how to analyze them. You can read through some articles to help you in deciding what methods are appropriate for your subject.

Writing the chapter of the research paper is next. You must include all the necessary parts like the cover page, research paper abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, data and analysis, results and discussions, conclusion and the bibliography page. Sometimes, you may also add up a recommendations and illustrations page. Do not forget the research paper referencing step to avoid any plagiarism issues.

Lastly, research paper writing ends in proofreading. Take time to identify some spelling, coherence, grammar and accuracy errors. Before you submit your paper, check these possible errors domains.

You have probably downloaded some examples of research papers online and found a chapter called research paper abstract. Well it is one of the major parts of a thesis paper and you should know how to write it. Let me give you the characteristics of the abstract and why it is included in the thesis paper.

The research paper abstract is a smaller summary of the entire research paper. It gives your readers a snapshot of what the research is all about and what it contains. Usually, the Abstract section is put before the Introduction chapter. This is the primary research paper section that involves the presentation of what the research is all about. There are things that you need to know in writing an abstract. Here is a basic list of these properties:

  1. The abstract is simply a small article that presents the research summary.
  2. It does not have to include all specific data of the research paper. A general scope of discussion will do.
  3. If you want to include some details, make sure that they are minimal.
  4. Write the abstract in very simple words.
  5. Research paper citing is not necessary for the Abstract content because you are summarizing your own paper.
  6. You can write the abstract in a single page.
  7. Limit your abstract content in about 300 to 500 words.

Research Paper Citing

Whenever you are going to write an essay, research paper or thesis, it is important that you know how to conduct research paper citing. Actually, your research results will not have any weight and significance if you did not cite your reference materials. Of course you can do the experimental design on your own but it cannot be denied that you will still use other materials to establish your research results. That is why research paper citing will always be a part of the writing process of any academic articles.

Research paper citing may be done simply by utilizing the principles of recognized citation styles. One of the most popular referencing styles is the APA format research paper. Usually, this is used for academic research papers which have topics related to science and medicine. On the other hand, the MLA format style of citation can be used for humanities topics. Still, there are the Harvard, Chicago and Turabian styles of citations. You can learn when and how to use them when you read our previous articles about citation styles and formats.

How to cite research papers concerns at least three parameters. The first one is the in-text citation where you will integrate a part of another article to your paper. The second one is the pagination style, construction of cover page and technical formatting. The third one specifies the correct procedures in writing the bibliography page.

Dissecting Expository Research Papers for a Better Understanding

Of the many different kinds of research papers you will have to write, the expository research paper may be one of the most interesting. You can rest assured that you will be asked to write an expository paper at least once during the course of your academic career; it is actually quite likely that it will be the sort of paper you are asked to write quite often. Do not worry though, it is also one of the easiest types of papers that you will ever have to write. All you are being asked to do is explain something.

Succinctly, when writing an expository research paper, you simply have to provide information on a particular topic. You may be allowed to come up with potential research paper ideas yourself or your teacher or professor may provide you with a list of possible topics.

Either way, the first step in writing this type of paper involves gathering a list of possible research paper topic ideas and then choosing the one in which you are most interested. Even if your instructor provides you with a list of possible topics, you should still endeavor to choose the one which interests you the most. It will make the entire research paper writing process go by much, much more smoothly. You do not necessarily have to be an expert on the topic you choose. Quite the contrary, this presents a wonderful opportunity for you to write about a subject in which you are interested but about which you know little.

Otherwise, the research paper format of an expository research paper is much the same as any other. Your next step, for instance, involves crafting a solid thesis statement.

At this point, you are ready to begin researching. Most expository papers require some type of independent research. For that reason, you will likely find that your instructors are fond of assigning expository papers, due to the fact that they are fundamental in creating strong researching skills. As well, during the research process, you may find that your research paper format can change from what you begin with before you started researching your subject.

The next step involves choosing a developmental style. In other words, you need to decide how you intent to present your paper. For example, the paper may serve as an extended definition of your topic. Then again, you might want to present several examples of your topic and interest. It is also common to choose two different topics and then compare and contrast them with each other in great detail.

Last but not least comes the structure of your expository research paper. In other words, you might decide that the best research paper format for you is the popular five paragraph essay. In that case, you will have an introduction, three paragraphs devoted to the body of the paper, and then a conclusion. Some expository papers are far too long for this style, however, so it will really depend on the length and subject of your paper.

When Research Paper Footnotes Are Necessary

The Purpose behind the Research Paper Footnote

Research papers are a lot different than other types of academic papers, especially in format and style — and especially with the inclusion of research paper footnotes. Not every paper requires footnotes. In text citations are typically more common, although it depends on the style of the paper you are writing. So let’s take a look at when footnotes are appropriate and when they can make your paper more organized — not to mention when they will actually be required.

First off, let us talk about when research paper footnotes are actually required.  Basically, this will be when you write an APA style research paper, and often it applies to the Chicago format of research paper writing as well.  Footnotes are typically used in these styles, partly because the subjects which usually use this styles tend to be very in depth.  For example, you can see how writing a sociology paper, which requires a lot of research, could be made neater and easier to read with the use of footnotes rather than in text citations.

It can take a while to get used to writing footnotes.  The best way to do so is by using them all through the research paper writing process.  For example, as you begin taking notes, make sure that you put all the quotations and information you want to use on your note cards.  This information will later comprise your footnotes, but having it right there at your disposal will make it easier to insert all of those quotes and facts into your paper.

Of course, this is not the only type of research paper format which will allow you to use research paper footnotes.  MLA papers can use footnotes as well.  Typically, people enjoy using footnotes in their papers versus in text citations because they make the paper look less cluttered.  These papers make for just as interesting research papers as any other kind.  You are not taking anything away from the content, you are just making it easier for your readers to get through the paper and understand it.  This can actually be beneficial to you.  Remember, the easier to read, the better your paper will go over.  And always remember, just because your paper is reader friendly does not mean that it is not interesting, thought provoking, or well thought out.  It is actually essential that readers find your paper easy to get through.  It should be smoothly flowing, and the use of footnotes can help that happen.

Research paper footnotes are actually preferable for a number of different reasons.  For example, you can shorten them if you have already written one footnote incorporating the source you are quoting.  It is difficult to do this with in text citations because although there are rules which allow you to do so, you still have a lot of information stuck right in the middle of your paper.  Before beginning the research paper writing process when you are using footnotes, however, make sure that you know your professor’s preference.  There are different types of footnotes.

Clues for Chemistry Research Papers

Okay everyone, your humble writer has to be honest about something regarding a certain kind of research papers.  She is going to do her very best to tell you everything you need to know about writing a chemistry research paper, but you should forgive any lackluster attitude, as she also failed organic chemistry miserably back in high school.  That is what literature lovers do: they fail out of chemistry.  Bearing that in mind, however, chemistry is an intriguing subject for those with a scientific bent.  A lot of people greatly prefer biology classes, since they generally involve cutting things open, but keep in mind that chemistry class can involve playing with acid and making things blow up, which is just about all you need to write an interesting paper.

From personal experience, the first thing you need to consider when writing a chemistry research paper is your professor.  Did you get one of the good ones, or did you get the prerequisite professor whom everyone loathes, detests, and prays not to get?  If so, then go talk to one of the well liked ones, it will help you out a lot.  Barring that, ingratiate yourself to the smartest person in the class.

There are – probably – a lot of interesting research papers you can write which involve chemistry.  After all, it is itself an interesting facet of science.  You simply have to be really go at it because or have a vested interest because otherwise, even studying your bum off will not help very much.

For that reason, you have to be extremely careful when considering research paper ideas for a chemistry research paper.  What are you studying in the class at the time? What have you studied up to that point?  In chemistry courses, it is generally better to stick with what you know, unless you are extremely gifted in the course.  Otherwise, you are apt to find yourself boggled down; you may find yourself doing tons of research, but unable to understand a bit of what you have found.  For that reason, too, you may find it beneficial to turn in a research paper proposal before you even start on the paper in earnest.  That way, your professor will be able to tell you if you are on the right track, if your subject is a feasible one, and if you have enough time to successfully complete it.

If you are taking a general chemistry course as a freshman or sophomore in college, then writing a chemistry research paper might be quite a bit easier.  If you are taking an inorganic or organic chemistry course because you are majoring in straight chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or because you are pre-med, then make sure you get as much help as possible.  Research paper writing is an involved process no matter what the subject.  When you consider all the theorems, postulates, equations, formulas, et cetera, involved in higher level chemistry classes, you realize there is a lot of room to mess up, so do everything you can to make sure you do not go that route.
